A New Approach for PID Controller Tuning from Closed- Loop Setpoint Experiment
نویسنده
چکیده
The proposed PID tuning method has similar approach to the recently published paper of Shamsuzzoha and Skogestad (2010). It is one step procedure to obtain the PID setting which gives the better performance and robustness. The method requires one closedloop step setpoint response experiment using a proportional only controller with gain Kc0. Based on simulations for a range of first-order with delay processes, simple correlations have been derived to give PID controller settings. The controller gain (Kc/Kc0) is only a function of the overshoot observed in the setpoint experiment. The controller integral and derivative time (τI and τD) is mainly a function of the time to reach the first peak (tp). The proposed tuning method shows better performance than Shamsuzzoha and Skogestad (2010) for broad range of processes.

A Unified IMC based PI/PID Controller Tuning Approach for Time Delay Processes
This paper proposes a new PI/PID controller tuning method within filtered Smith predictor (FSP) configuration in order to deal with various types of time delay processes including stable, unstable and integrating delay dominant and slow dynamic processes. The proposed PI/PID controller is designed based on the IMC principle and is tuned using a new constraint and without requiring any approxima...
متن کاملClosed Loop Tuning Vs Open Loop Tuning: Tuning All Your Loops While the Process Is Running Is Now Possible
Traditional methodology for optimizing and tuning PID loops (excluding ‘trial-and-error’) rely on ‘open-loop’ tests, whereby the loop is placed in manual mode and the controller output is moved, usually in a step-wise fashion. The issues with this ‘step’ test are numerous, primarily that the test will disturb the process. This is especially true for slow processes such as temperature, where a s...
متن کاملAnalytical PI Controller Tuning Using Closed-loop Setpoint Response
Recently Shamsuzzoha and Skogestad proposed a proportional-integral (PI) tuning rule for a wide range of unidentified processes. The rule relies on a closed-loop setpoint response (CSR) of a process and was developed from extensive numerical experiments. This work analytically derives a similar PI tuning rule using the CSR method. Simulations indicate that the two rules perform similarly if the...
متن کاملOn-Line PI Controller Tuning Using Closed-Loop Setpoint Responses for Stable and Integrating Processes*
A simple and new procedure has been developed for the PI controller tuning of an unidentified process using closed-loop responses. The method requires only one step test in the closed-loop system to obtain the proportional gain and integral time. The step test is a setpoint change performed with a proportional only controller while disabling any integral and derivative action. From the setpoint...
